New Endowment for Epidemiology Professorship

James RobinsMitchell Lang Dong A.B. ‘75 and Robin LaFoley Dong, longstanding friends of HSPH, have made a commitment of $3.7 million dollars to the school.

Their gift will endow a new professorship in the Department of Epidemiology, which will be the first endowed chair for the department.

James Robins will be the Mitchell L. and Robin LaFoley Dong Professor of Epidemiology.

In addition, the Dongs will establish the Dong Scholarship Fund to support exceptional students at the school.

The Dongs have been involved with HSPH since 1990. Mr. Dong is a member of the Nutrition Roundtable and a founding member and former chair of the Harvard Environmental Health Council.

He has also served on the Capital Campaign Committee and the Visiting Committee.

Ms. Dong is a member of the Nutrition Roundtable and has served on the Capital Campaign Committee and on the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention Advisory Board

Largest Group of Students so Far for CCPE

The Center for Continuing Professional Education (CCPE) at HSPH recently hosted the largest and most diverse group of students ever to attend its courses.

In June, more than 220 people from 39 countries participated in courses about ethics, health and human rights, and biostatistics. David Shore is executive director and associate dean of CCPE, which has offered executive education, training programs, and conferences for mid- and senior-level health professionals for nearly two decades.
