Gawande Delivers HMS Class Day Speech

image

Atul Gawande, assistant professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School, and an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at HSPH, served as the Class Day speaker for HMS and HSDM on June 9. His speech centered on five "rules" on making a difference in medical care: Ask an unscripted question when working with patients; Don't whine; Count something (be a scientist in your world); Write something; Change (to create new ideas). The full speech is available at www.hms.harvard.edu/news/grad2005.html.
