One hundred and fifty three HSPH staff and faculty were honored at the fourth annual "Celebration with the Stars" on Friday, May 6 in the Kresge Cafeteria. The event recognized employees who had reached the following anniversaries during the 2004-2005 academic year: five, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years or more. Especially honored for their long-term service were Jean Joseph, Department of Population and International Health (35 years); Michelle Mackenzie, Department of Population and International Health (35 years); Thomas Graboys, Department of Nutrition (30 years); and Henry Wechsler, Department of Society, Human Development, and Health (43 years). Honorees received the following items in recognition of their work: watches (25 years or more of service); engraved crystal globes (20 years); engraved clocks (15 years); engraved pencil-and-pen sets (10 years); and HSPH mugs, caps, and electronic calculator/clock/calendar units (five years). The Deanna Paquet Jazz Quartet-named for its lead singer, who is also a staff member in Academic Affairs-performed several songs, opening the event with a rendition of "To Sir With Love." The original song was sung by Lulu. The event was coordinated by the Schoolwide Events Committee.
University Honors Long Service Each year, Harvard University recognizes individuals who have completed 25 years of service at the University. This year's ceremony took place at Pound Hall, Harvard Law School, on May 12 and was presided over by President Lawrence Summers.
