Department Spotlights Frontiers of Environmental Science at Special Event

Joseph Brain

Joseph Brain was honored at the event.

Faculty, fellows, and students from the Department of Environmental Health gathered for a special symposium on April 18 at the New Research Building to share their latest work on subjects such as obesity and asthma; skin cancer; use of magnetic resonance spectroscopy to measure lead's effect on cognition; and the effects of air pollution on patients with congestive heart failure.

Douglas Dockery, chair of the department, hosted the event, which was followed by a dinner to honor outgoing chair Joseph Brain, as well as to recognize the contributions made by other, past heads of the Department of Environmental Health:

Dade Moeller accepts the Professor Emeritus Award from HSPH Assistant Professor Melissa Perry.

James Whittenberger, Dade Moeller, John Little, Joseph Harrington, Elkan Blout, and Donald Hornig. All were featured in a special video presentation.

In addition, Moeller was honored with the HSPH Distinguished Professor Emeritus Award, traditionally given at the academic year's final faculty meeting.
