Second Round of GPTW Recognition Award Honorees Receive Gift Certificates

Fifty HSPH employees have been recognized by their peers for outstanding work as part of the ongoing Great Place to Work (GPTW) Recognition Award effort. First-time honorees will receive a letter of appreciation and a $100 gift certificate to GiftCertificates.com.

The GPTW Recognition Award program resulted from a School-wide survey in 2002 that indicated employees would welcome a way for extra effort to be acknowledged. Staff, faculty, and other academic appointees are eligible.

The program is open to nominations at any time and continues to collect them. See below.

HSPH staff, faculty, and postdocs are eligible to be nominated by other HSPH staff, faculty, and postdocs in recognition for clearly going above and beyond their typical day-to-day employee responsibilities.

Trio Twice Honored

Three of the 50 employees honored by their colleagues during the latest GPTW Recognition Award effort received awards during the first round in January. The trio will receive a letter of appreciation and a small gift. Nominees may receive only one gift certificate each fiscal year.

She has worked at HSPH since 1981 and splits her time between the Departments of Nutrition and Epidemiology. "The fact that I have stayed here so long says something about what I think about the School," said Freeman. "I Iike being part of an organization that has a mission to make the world a better place."

She began working at HSPH 19 years ago and says that she thinks of herself as a business manager, overseeing financial and administrative responsibilities so that the researchers can focus on their work.

She said she was stunned to learn that she had been nominated a second time.

imageVickie Beaulieu has worked as a program coordinator in the Department of Biostatistics for more than three years. Prior to HSPH, she worked in Harvard's Office for Sponsored Research for more than 20 years. She is currently focused on organizing three major lectures and award ceremonies: Distinguished Alum Award, Marvin Zelen Leadership Award, and the Myrto Lefkopoulou Distinguished Lecture.

"It's really nice to be recognized for the work that you do," she said. "I am touched that someone would take the extra time to nominate me when the faculty and staff are so busy."
