![]() The Democratic National Convention (DNC)Monday, July 26 to Thursday, July 29is expected to disrupt normal traffic patterns. To aid HSPH commuters, continuing travel advisories from Operations, Information Technology, and Harvard Public Health NOW will be provided as available. Information Technology has created a web site at http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/convention/, which will be updated with transportation news. HSPH will remain open as usual for the length of the DNC. HSPH Survey To help identify the needs of HSPH commuters during the DNC, Operations is conducting a brief survey. HSPH employees and students are asked to visit http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/convention/survey/. Fast Facts The DNC will take place at the FleetCenter in downtown Boston from Monday, July 26 to Thursday, July 29. Approximately 4,350 delegates and 610 alternates will attend. Approximately 15,000 members of the press are also expected. On each evening from July 26 to 29, Interstate 93 will be shut in both directions, with closings on ramps and feeder roads expected to start at 4 p.m. Emergency vehicles and other designated vehicles, such as T shuttle buses, are expected to be allowed to continue using I-93. North Station will close at the end of the day on Friday, July 23. The Lowell, Haverhill, Newburyport/Rockport, and Fitchburg Commuter Rail lines will stop north of the city. Riders will be diverted to subways or shuttle buses. The Green Line will shut down between Haymarket and Lechmere stations during the DNC. Shuttle buses north will be provided. The Red Sox will play the Yankees at Fenway Park on July 23, 24, and 25adding congestion to the LMA area. If a "credible threat" is received, highways and roadways may be shut down until the threat is neutralized or determined not to be a threat. No prior notice will be given. More information from the MBTA regarding the DNC is expected to be announced during the week of May 16.
