Exams and Defenses

Lisa Wang, doctoral candidate in the Department of Epidemiology, will present her thesis defense, "Gene-Environment Interactions in Lung Cancer Risk: An Evaluation of Diet, Asbestos and Polymorphisms in MNSOD and GSTM1," on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. in FXB G-12.

Hee-Jin Jun, doctoral candidate in the Department of Health and Social Behavior, will present her thesis defense, "Women’s Health and Social Position: Global and US Perspectives," on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. in Kresge 708.

Mihaela Tanasescu, doctoral candidate in the Department of Nutrition, will present her thesis defense, "Exercise Type and Intensity in Relation to Coronary Heart Disease in Men; Diet, Exercise and Cardiovascular Disease in Type 2 Diabetics," on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. in FXB G-13.

Kathleen Putnam, doctoral candidate in the Department of Epidemiology, will take her oral examination on Monday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. in Kresge 908. Major: epidemiology; minors: pharmacoepidemiology, biostatistics. Robert Glynn will chair the examination committee.

Kimberly Anne Kaphingst, doctoral candidate in the Department of Health and Social Behavior, will present her thesis defense, "Examining the Educational Potential of Direct-to-Consumer Pharmaceutical Advertising," on Tuesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. in Kresge 708.

David Michael Loecke, doctoral candidate in the Department of Biostatistics, will take his oral examination on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. in SPHII-426. Major: biostatistics; minors: theoretical statistics, psychiatric epidemiology. Garrett Fitzmaurice will chair the examination committee.
