Thirteen e-mail kiosks have been built around HSPH for use by students, staff and faculty. The project is part of the Great Place to Work initiative in coordination with Information Technology and Operations. "Having these computers here where I can check e-mail is very convenient," said Ferah Kahyaoglu, MPH student. "It helps you keep good communication with others without needing to carry around a beeper or cell phone." Each kiosk offers a monitor and keyboard from which Harvard e-mail accounts can be checked and Harvard web sites can be accessed. The kiosks do not connect to the broader Internet. They have been strategically located near classrooms and in high-traffic areas. "We consider these kiosks a service to make it easier for students as well as visiting researchers, staff and faculty to accomplish their work," said Mary Jane Curran, director of administration and operations. The kiosks are the first part of a longer term GPTW Committee initiative exploring ways to aid communication around the School. For more information, contact the Help Desk at 617-432-HELP.
