Carsons Make Gift for Scholarships

Russ and Judy Carson, longstanding friends of the School, recently made a lead gift of $1 million to the Dean’s Scholarship Challenge Fund. The newly established Scholarship Challenge Fund allows HSPH to continue to attract and train the best students from around the world by increasing student financial aid. The Carsons’ gift–one of only two gifts of this size made for scholarship support in the history of HSPH–will bolster scholarship funding for students throughout the school.

The Carsons are committed to scholarship support. In 1994, they established the Carson Family Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid for students in the Department of Health Policy and Management.

Mr. Carson is a founding partner of Welsh, Carson, Anderson, & Stowe, one of the nation’s largest investment firms specializing in the purchase of privately owned companies in the information services and health care industries. Mrs. Carson is the founder and executive director of Learning to Look, a program that teaches art appreciation to inner-city children.
