Women's Mental Health Conference on November 3

The 6th Annual Research Conference of HMS' Center of Excellence in Women's Health will focus on "Women's Mental Health from Childhood through Adulthood" and will take place on Thursday, November 3. Topics include basic science, epidemiological, and psychosocial research overviews of women's mental health, as well as research about mental health concerns related to drug exposure in pregnancy, risks and benefits of SSRI treatment for girls, multicultural perspectives on depression and women, impact of depression on alcohol use, menopause and mental health, and the functional decline of women with aging.

The conference is free of charge and will take place from 12 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at The New Research Building, 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur. To register, visit http://www.hms.harvard.edu/coewh/2005research/index.html.

Posters needed: Research posters will be on display during the conference. Interested presenters should send an abstract to Lindsay Giorgi, program coordinator at the Center, at lgiorgi@partners.org by Wednesday, October 19. Junior faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, and doctoral students are especially encouraged to present their work.

Registration is open for the annual "On My Own Time" exhibit, which features arts, crafts, and hobby interests of HSPH employees. Sponsored by the Office of Human Resources, the event takes place from October 31 to November 10 in the FXB lobby. To register, visit www.hsph.harvard.edu/hr/OnMyOwnTime.htm. The deadline is Monday, October 17.
