The agency has also installed a Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit in each federal region to serve as a resource for physicians, parents and others, and initiated a series of public health activities in many key sites, including Libby, MT, where ATSDR has assisted Libby residents who were exposed to asbestos in vermiculite mined there, according to a CDC press release. NCEH is focused on preventing or controlling diseases, birth defects, disabilities or deaths related to how people interact with their environments. For more information, visit www.cdc.gov/nceh.
