12. This is the fire drill procedure: one set of alarms, accompanied by blinking lights, goes off throughout the building. An automated voice announces there is an emergency. Listen for a second set of alarms–different from the first–that alerts people to leave specific floors that need evacuation. If you don’t hear the second announcement, you don’t need to leave, unless you feel uncomfortable staying.

13. The Harvard Longwood Campus has a walking escort service available 24 hours a day. A security officer will escort faculty, staff, or students on request to any of the LMA parking lots, buildings, or local T stops. To use this service, call 617-432-1379.

14. For safety reasons, a late-night taxi service is available from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. all week. The service is free within a one-mile radius of the campus. You are responsible for fare past the one-mile radius. Users must have a valid ID from HSPH, HMS, or HDSM. At HSPH, vouchers may be picked up at the FXB Security Desk.
