One great way for new HSPH members to get to know the neighborhood around the school–and for all HSPH members to help support the community–is the Mission Hill Walk for Health. Now in its seventh year, the walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 21 and supports local youth programs. The Division of Public Health Practice at HSPH helps to sponsor the annual event.

The walk is a few miles long and wends through the Mission Hill neighborhood.

Participants will meet in front of the Mission Main Resident Services Building at 39 Smith Street at 9 a.m. for registration. The walk begins at 10 a.m. There is no rain date.

Mission Hill Walk
The Mission Hill Walk for Health usually draws a few hundred people.
Walkers can register early by turning in their pledge sheets by September 13. Pledge sheets are available at the Division of Public Health Practice at 1552 Tremont Street and at the table by the Security Desk in the Kresge Atrium.

Proceeds will benefit: Mission PRIDE, Sociedad Latina, Inc., Mission Hill After-School Program, Mission Hill School, Whittier Youth Service and Enrichment Program, Mission SAFE, Roxbury Tenants of Harvard, and Project LIFE, Inc.

Last year, the Mission Hill Walk for Health raised more than $30,000. This year’s goal is to raise $60,000 through pledges.
