Overview

The National Preparedness Leadership Initiative (NPLI) is a joint venture of the Harvard School of Public Health's Division of Policy Translation and Leadership Development and the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership. It works in collaboration with key government agencies to ensure today's unprecedented challenges are met with uncommon leadership from federal, state, and local officials and encourages connectivity across public, private, and non-profit sectors.

NPLI faculty Dr. Leonard Marcus, Dr. Barry Dorn, and Dr. Isaac Ashkenazi have been at the forefront of developing the Meta-Leadership framework and practice method.

The National Preparedness Leadership Initiative executive education curriculum is designed to produce effective leadership at all levels of government. The NPLI curriculum leverages the combined strengths of the Harvard Kennedy School's experience in leadership education and the Harvard School of Public Health's unmatched technical expertise in the field of public health emergencies.

Partners in Preparedness: Delegations to Israel

This annual, invitation-only program brings a small, high-level delegation of preparedness and response leaders to meet with their counterparts in Israel. The trip includes visits to facilities in the field, educational sessions, and meetings for knowledge sharing and relationship building. Tale of Our Cities

Tale of Our Cities are annual programs that bring together global experts in urban terrorism with their counterparts in the United States for knowledge sharing and networking. Meta-Leadership Summits for Preparedness

The Meta-Leadership Summits for Preparedness are learning and networking opportunities designed to prepare business, government and nonprofit leaders to act together in times of crisis. Each one-day program helps participants gain effective problem-solving skills and build connections with other leaders who may be critical to in a disaster. This program is presented in collaboration with the CDC Foundation and the support of the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation.
