Susan Burnside

As an IRB Review Specialist for the Longwood Medical Area IRB, serving the Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Susan is responsible for reviewing new protocol submissions, protocol modification requests and making exemption and “Not Human Subjects Research” determinations to ensure compliance with federal regulations applicable to research involving human subjects and compliance with institutional policies. Prior to joining HSPH in September 2012, Susan served for 6 years as the Administrative Chair of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital IRB and 4 years working with the DFCI IRB.  Susan also served as project manager for number of clinical research studies prior to working in human research subjects protection programs. Susan is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP). She received her BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland and her MPH, with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Boston University School of Public Health.
