2013 – 2014 Monthly Education Series

QIP is committed to providing on-going support and education to the Harvard Longwood Medical Area (HSPH, HMS, HSDM) research community. Join your colleagues over a cup of coffee and snack for these informal presentations including time for questions and answers. Human Research refresher credit will be available for those who attend three or more sessions in an academic year.

Jeopardy

Location: Countway Library, Minot Room

When: Wednesday, May 14th, 9:30 am – 11:00 am

Test your knowledge in a round of Human Research themed Jeopardy. Categories will include topics from QIP’s Monthly Education Series: What’s New with ESTR, ABC’s for becoming a successful investigator, Project Manager or Research Staff, IRB Cheat Sheet, Using Available Data and Specimens in Research, What to do when you find non-compliance, International Research, IND/IDEs and Community-Based Research.  Be sure to attend as many sessions as possible to prepare and challenge your peers and win prizes!

Coffee and morning treats will be served!

Note that this session will run for an hour and a half starting at 9:30am.


Hot Topic! So you’ve received IRB approval…what now?

Location: Countway Library, Minot Room

When: Tuesday, April 22nd, 12:30-1:20

Attend this session to learn what responsibilities the Principal Investigator, Student Investigator, and study team have post-IRB approval.  The presenters, Paul Hryvniak, IRB Review Specialist, and Alyssa Speier, Quality Improvement Specialist, will focus the discussion on securing local IRB approval, modifications to approved protocols, and what information to report to the IRB after approval. Suggestions will be given on maintaining regulatory documentation with a focus on how best to ensure confidentiality.  As always, please bring your questions.
