Saturday, August 30

9:45-12:00 S-CAP (Student Community Action Partnership) – Service Project at Room to Grow
Join HSPH student organization S-CAP on their first community service project of the academic year at Room to Grow. After the service opportunity the group will go out for lunch. Lunch is not paid for so please bring money for your own lunch expense. For more information about Room to Grow please visit: Room To Grow. Tuesday, September 2

12:30-1:30 Information Session: Understanding Your Harvard University Student Health Plan, Kresge G-1
Join Harvard University Health Services as they walk you through important elements of the Student Health Plan. There will also be a question and answer period to answer specific questions about the policy, resources and benefits.

12:30-1:20 Information Session: Student Computing, Kresge LL-6
Hands-on introduction to student computing at HSPH. Topics include:  logging in, saving and printing your work, software overview, course websites, myHSPH, email, and how to get help with statistical computing.

Wednesday, September 3

12:30-1:30 Seminar: Biking In Boston, FXB G-13
This seminar will teach you some urban biking safety tips, some rules of the road, some biking routes in the Longwood Medical Area, and instructions for how to get the most out of the bike infrastructure in the area (including bike cages, Hubway, bike racks on the M2 shuttle, and more).

12:30-1:30 Cross Registration Tips, Kresge G-1
Attend this session to learn how to navigate the system and cross register for courses at other Harvard schools, MIT and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tuft’s University.

Thursday, September 4

12:30-1:30 Harvard iLab Information Session, Kresge G-2
Learn about the exciting opportunities for incoming and returning students at the Harvard iLab. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from current HSPH students who are actively involved in the iLab. There are opportunities for students who are interested in every type of project and time commitment. For more information about the Harvard iLab click here.

Friday, September 5

12:30-1:30 HUHS: Distance & Separation Seminar, Kresge 201
Please join us for this unique seminar, hosted by the Office for Student Affairs, and led by a staff member of the Harvard University Health Services to discuss the challenges with being separated from family, spouses and partners during your time away from home. This seminar has been designed specifically for student who are living without their families, spouses and partners during their studies here at HSPH. This is a great opportunity to make connection with others who are experiencing similar challenges with being apart from key support figures in their lives.

12:30-1:30 Information Session: STATA, Kresge 213
STATA is the primary statistical software package used in the introductory Biostatistics courses (BIO200 and BIO201), and is used in some other courses at HSPH as well.  The session instructor will cover the same STATA topics covered in the on-line tutorial. Students comfortable with the on-line tutorial do not need to attend the review session.

12:45-1:15 Countway Library Tour, Countway Library – Meet just past the ID Station
Join Countway staff on a tour of the library. Find out where to find books, journals, and the best places to study; get tips on scanning, printing, and more.

Meet-Up Location For Tour: Exit the Kresge Building (ID check station near the cafeteria), go down the stairs into the courtyard; the library is on your left. Cross the courtyard, take the stairs up and walk left to the library entrance. Show your Harvard ID, and meet just past the ID check.

7:30-Late Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays, Fenway Park
Come to a Red Sox Game with your fellow HSPH friends and peers! Meet outside the Kresge Entrance at 6:15pm and walk over together. The game starts at 7:10pm, so this will allow time for travel, security, and settling in. You will be purchasing a ticket to the Red Sox Game on September 5th @ 7:10pm. The Red Sox are playing the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. Please pick up your ticket(s) in the Office for Student Affairs before September 5th during business hours ONLY (9am -5pm). Saturday, September 13

7:30-Late New England Revolution versus Montreal Impact Soccer Game, Gillette Stadium
Cheer on the Revs with your HSPH classmates and friends!
Join your HSPH friends at Boston’s own soccer team! This ticket is for ONLY the game on Saturday September 13, 2014 to the New England Revolution (soccer game). The game takes place at Gillette Stadium: 1 Patriots Place, Foxborough, MA

This ticket does not include transportation. Purchase tickets here.
Please pick up your ticket(s) at ‘Will Call’ at Gillette Stadium on the day of the game. Remember to bring a photo ID to pick up your tickets at ‘Will Call’.
