  Funding Opportunities

The Program on the Global Demography of Aging (PGDA) offers several funding opportunities for Harvard affiliated professors who are conducting research on themes related to aging and health.  PGDA encourages research with a central focus on the developing world. Click on the Pilot Projects page to submit a Pilot Project.

Part of the PGDA grant supports the position of Visiting Scholar.  PGDA reimburses travel expenses for scholars who are interested in collaborating with Harvard faculty on research related to aging.

PGDA recruits students who are interested in continuing their post-doctoral training by offering a one year post-doctoral fellowship. Fellows learn about relevant social science, public health, and medical literatures relating to the global demography of aging by attending courses throughout Harvard.  PGDA is seeking qualified applicants for a post-doctoral fellowship in Population and International Health Economics. The application deadline is December 21, 2007.

The Yerby Post Doctorate Fellowship, sponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health, seeks minority scientists to be successful public health academics. The program engages fellows in exceptional professional development opportunities focusing primarily on advancing fellows' research under the mentorship of experienced faculty members within the school. Students interested in undertaking study in aging and demography are encouraged to seek Professors David Bloom [dbloom@hsph.harvard.edu] and David Canning [dcanning@hsph.harvard.edu] as mentors. Please note, PGDA is not sponsoring this fellowship.
