Williams is an author on a peer-reviewed editorial published on Cureus that calls for an increased focus on prevention science to combat the increase in non-communicable diseases. Specifically, the researchers suggest targeting three key areas of lifestyle behaviors during childhood – physical activity, nutrition and sleep –  through multi-level, public health programs.

Gortmaker Looks for Cost-Effective Solutions to Childhood Obesity

gortmakerHarvard Pop Center affiliated faculty member Steven Gortmaker, Ph.D., is principal investigator on CHOICES Project (Childhood Obesity Intervention Cost-Effectiveness Study), a 3-year study that will evaluate the cost-effectiveness of 40 interventions designed to prevent childhood obesity.
