Impact of Neighborhoods on Physical Activity
and Obesity

In Chicago we are partnering with a unique multilevel longitudinal study of
children, youth and
families known as the Project on Human Development in
Chicago Neighborhoods. We are identifying neighborhoods that were "physical-
activity friendly" in 1996 and examining evidence for impact on levels of
physical activity and obesity among 3,400 youth and young adults growing
up in these neighborhoods.
