| SmartMat Evaluation
The SmartMat Area and Monitoring and Analysis System gives
researchers an important new tool for measuring physical activity
levels. The system counts subjects passing through a defined area,
notes their direction, time and speed, computes their stride length
and estimates their weight. The system works with groups of
people, and it differentiates between walkers, cyclists, animals
and other sources of error. SmartMat will be portable, affordable,
rugged, quickly set up, easy to use, work in or outdoors, and
operate for long periods of time. Researchers will download data
using standard Smart Media cards, or connect to the system via
a serial port, Ethernet or wirelessly.
