Dr. Savoia and colleagues are working on the development of a conceptual framework and evaluation methods to assess the performance of the public health workforce during public health emergencies. In particular her work focuses on the validation of assessment tools to be implemented during tabletop exercises and drills. Dr. Savoia has extensive experience in the implementation of survey instruments for needs assessments, perceived performance, organizational performance and participants’ reactions evaluations. As part of her methodological work, she is applying statistical methods to analyze a comprehensive database of subjects who have participated in large-scale tabletop exercises and attended emergency preparedness training activities in the states of Massachusetts and Maine. Other research topics include: disparities in infant mortality rates, quality of life assessments with generic and specific instruments, evidence based medicine.
