Harvard Malaria Initiative

(composite2.jpg)

Since 1997, the Harvard Malaria Initiative at the Harvard School of Public Health has been bringing the resources of the School and the University to bear on the malaria epidemic by: Using sophisticated laboratory research to understand the underlying causes of drug resistance — which makes current malaria drugs ineffective in treating the disease — and to identify and screen potential new drugs and drug targets. Rapidly translating findings into new, practical treatments. Training a new generation of researchers and public health professionals to attack the malaria problem through scientific studies as well as prevention.
