Leslie Howes, Director of the Quality Improvement Program (QIP), is responsible for all quality improvement and education initiatives/services provided by the OHRA. Specifically, Leslie conducts routine on-site reviews of HSPH IRB-approved studies; she works with investigators and their study staff to prepare for external audits, as well as provide consultation and guidance on regulatory requirements and institutional policies. Prior to the formation of OHRA’s Quality Improvement Program, Leslie worked as OHRA Assistant Director to ensure compliance with all applicable federal regulations, state laws, institutional and departmental rules, policies, and procedures. She provided front-line review of new and continuing applications, and minor amendments and served as an IRB alternate member. Leslie will maintain her role as OHRA Assistant Director to develop and implement internal QA/QI initiatives. Leslie earned her Certification of IRB Professionals (CIP) designation in 2004. She received her BS in Neuroscience from Bates College and her Masters in Public Health from Tufts University School of Medicine.
