Who can be a Harvard-NIEHS Center member?
Center members must meet four criteria:
- Faculty or Research Scientist appointment at the Harvard School of Public Health or elsewhere at Harvard,
- demonstrated research productivity in an area related to one of the three Research Cores of the Center,
- demonstrate competence in disciplines related to environmental health, and
- demonstrate collaboration with other Harvard Center members or must clearly articulate plans for collaboration with Center members.
Benefits of Center Membership
Center members have access to the services provided by the Facility Cores, access to facility use funds through the Integrated Health Sciences Facility Core, and are eligible to apply for Pilot Project funding. Working with the Research Core leaders, they can also solicit support for invited speakers and Center-sponsored symposium and enrichment activities.
How do I become a Harvard-NIEHS Center member?
Complete a Membership Form, and return to Kelly Studebaker. New member applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee at their monthly meetings.
Expectations of Center Members
All Center members are expected to be active members of one of the three Research Cores, that is, attend Core seminars and workshops, and are expected to participate in Center-wide seminars, symposia and retreats.
The Executive Committee reviews the membership of the Harvard-NIEHS Center at the start of each grant year. If there is little evidence of active participation in the Center, the Executive Committee will notify the member, and if there is no change in participation after six months, cancel the membership.
