TO: HSPH NIEHS Center Investigators and Associates
FROM:   Doug Dockery
DATE:   June 30, 2008
SUBJ:   Call For Pilot Project Applications, Due August 15, 2008

We are seeking applications for 12-month pilot project support from our HSPH NIEHS Center Grant, beginning October 1, 2008.  We will give priority to applications that:

  1. are submitted by faculty who have not had a pilot project in the last 3 years, especially new faculty;
  2. involve collaborative efforts among the Center's research and facility cores; and/or
  3. involve Center collaborations with investigators not yet in our Center.

A copy of the NIEHS guidelines for submission of pilot project applications is attached. If you have any question as to whether a specific project is suitable, please contact me or your Center Research Core Leader.  You should also meet with a Research Core Leader to discuss the application and to identify the names of suggested reviewers for your application.

There is no limit on the number of applications submitted per core.  The application and support documentation (along with the names of possible reviewers) should be submitted electronically to Henry Terwedow (hterwedo@hsph.harvard.edu , FXB-101) no later than, August 15, 2008.  I will send the applications to 3 reviewers to assist in the selection process when the Center's Pilot Project Committee meets.

The Research Core Leaders are:
        Dr. John Godleski (Urban and Occupational Particles)
        Dr. Russ Hauser (Organic Pollutants)
        Dr. Robert Wright (Metals)
