Deans’ Research Update Lunch Series

In September 2010 the Office of Research Strategy and Development launched a monthly Deans’ Research Update Lunch series, providing a monthly forum in which a small group of faculty are given the opportunity to talk with HSPH senior leaders about the nature and impact of their research.  The lunch series provides a valuable opportunity for:

  • Faculty to learn more about each others’ work
  • The school’s academic and research Deans to stay apprised of new research activities
  • The Office of Research Strategy and Development, along with External Relations, to help identify potential resources to support faculty research

To keep the setting for these sessions intimate, 3-4 faculty are invited to present on their research interests at each monthly session.  Our goal is to give all assistant and associate professors the opportunity to present at a Dean’s Research Update Lunch within the next 1-2 years.

Faculty Grant-Writing Short Course

The Office of Research Strategy and Development offers a grant-writing short course, co-led by Karen Emmons, Associate Dean for Research and NIH-funded scientist, and Donald Halstead, Instructor in the Office of Educational Programs.  This four-session course is targeted to faculty with a range of grant-writing experience who are actively preparing NIH proposals. Highly interactive in design, the course is structured to help faculty build on intensive instructor and peer review to develop and enrich sections of NIH funding proposals that are particularly challenging.  Contact ORSD to find out more about the course!
