Mission Statement

The Harvard Center for Society and Health is dedicated to the task of identifying the social and economic determinants of health and intervening to improve the public's health.

Overview

The Harvard Center for Society and Health focuses on four distinct areas:

  • Researching the ways in which social and economic inequalities affect the public's health and well-being;
  • Training domestic and international scientists and leaders on the social determinants of health;
  • Formulating public- and private-sector policies that strive to improve people's health and quality of life.
  • Communicate new findings on the social determinants of health to the general public.  

Based at the Harvard School of Public Health , the Center complements the School's programs in social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology, and public policy.
