MBTA  SEMESTER Pass Discount Program

Application for the MBTA Semester Pass

The MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) has teamed up with the Harvard School of Public Health to offer students a discount on their transportation costs.  The MBTA is Boston’s public transit system and is made up of the subway system (called the “T”), local trains (the commuter rail) and buses that service the metropolitan area.

The discounted program offers students the opportunity to order and pay for a four month (semester) pass. The semester pass program is offered twice a year, once in September and again in December.  Students who participate receive an 11% discount. The Fall Semester pass covers October – January and the Spring Semester pass covers February – May. Please watch Student News for deadlines.

Please note that the fall semester pass also covers the winter session time period, if you will not be in Boston during winter session, this pass may not be the best value for you.

If you do not purchase a semester MBTA pass, you can get a monthly Charlie Card.

Outings & Innings, a very popular service of Harvard Human Resources, has announced a pilot expansion of a selection of our services to students.

Student Discounts

Banana Republic (Newbury Street location) offers a 15% student discount on full priced items, with a valid college ID.

Blue Jean Bar (Newbury Street location) offers a 20% student discount on full priced items, with a valid college ID.

Boston Symphony Orchestra offers a College Card during the regular season.  For only $25, attend up to 15 select performances.  A limited number of College Card tickets are available on certain performance dates, usually Tuesday and Thursdays.  All tickets must be picked up in person with a valid student ID and College Card the day of the performance.

Boston Lyric Opera offers half-price student tickets in advance and the day of the performance at the Citi Performing Arts Center box office with a valid student ID. Limit two tickets per ID. The Citi Performing Arts Center is located at 270 Tremont Street in Boston’s Theatre District. Box office hours are from 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday.

Student tickets may also be purchased two hours before the performance at the Citi Performing Arts Center at 265 Tremont Street. Please present a valid student ID. Limit two tickets per ID.

Boston Ballet offers a student/youth subscription which is available for $60 for 3 ballets.  Student rush tickets are also available for $20 two hours prior to select performances, cash only.  Subject to availability.

Fire + Ice (Boston location) offers College Night on Monday, with a valid college ID feast on an unlimited dinner for only $9.95.

Fred Perry (Newbury Street location)offers a 10% student discount on full priced items with a valid college ID.

Handel and Haydn Society offers student rush tickets to all performances for only $10.  You must arrive one hour before the show.  Discounts given to students 25 and younger possessing valid student ID.
