The W&HI and the Maternal Health Task Force have developed a new winter session course, Field Experience in Maternal Health, to provide students with an opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge to maternal health issues in developing countries through experiences with Maternal Health Task Force partner organizations. Admitted students will be individually paired with partner organizations based on the needs of the host organizations and the students’ skills.

These placements will last for three weeks during the January winter session term and will focus on a very specific task, such as a needs assessment, the launch of a new activity or service, or the development of a draft proposal or report, in the context of the maternal health work of the organization or institution. The internship may involve collecting data, visiting sites, conducting interviews, and other activities that are at the core of program and project implementation in the field of maternal health. It is our hope that these placements lead to further long-term collaborations and partnerships.

Students completing the Women, Gender and Health concentration may now count this course towards the concentration's requirements.
