China has recently become a major partner with American Universities, institutes, and companies in conducting multiple projects of collaborative health research. As this partnership continues to grow, the opportunity now exists to work with Chinese colleagues in building the foundations of a national system of ethical review and oversight. This project assists the Chinese in developing and implementing a case-based model of training in research ethics that is tailored to meet the needs of the scientific community. To meet this goal, the project is conducting ethical health research courses in China, developing and evaluating educational materials, and providing continuing support for the training of Chinese scientists, ethicists, and regulators in research ethics.
