Welcome to the Harvard Chan School!
This year is a homecoming for me—after previously spending six years as an associate professor here, I am honored to return as Dean of the Faculty.
The Harvard Chan School is home to some of the world’s preeminent public health minds. I’ve always been struck by the high-quality teaching, mentoring, and research here, as well as the tremendous caliber of students. The passion and excellence are palpable; everywhere you look, you see leaders who are deeply invested in creating a healthier world for all.
Our community is also unique because we draw about 40% of our students from outside the U.S. That means you’ll encounter an enormous diversity of perspectives and backgrounds in your courses, whether you’re studying on campus or online. These classmates will challenge you, inspire you, and open your minds not just to new points of view, but also to new career paths.
If you join us here, you’ll also tap into an incredible network of alumni working in every conceivable field around the world, often in leadership roles.
Harvard Chan School is full of opportunities, and I urge you to explore them all. Take some time to study the website, talk to current and former students, and reach out to faculty in your field of interest. Do your research, so you can understand how enrolling would help you achieve your goals.
I’m so excited to be back in Boston with the opportunity to lead this special institution. I hope to welcome you to our community one day soon!
