Technology Utilized in the Harvard MPH in Epidemiology
The MPH in Epidemiology will use the same state-of-the-art technology that is employed in other academic programs at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Specific technology utilized may include:
- Canvas learning management system and Canvas partner services
- Microsoft 365 for email, calendar, and other collaborative computing tasks
- Video conferencing powered by Zoom
The security features of these services have been reviewed by Harvard University for compliance with University security standards. While the services are secured with industry best practices, students should be aware of additional requirements around unauthorized capturing and redistribution of course materials (please reference the Harvard Chan School Student Handbook).
Technical Requirements for Students
Detailed laptop requirements can be found in the IT Department students guide.
The Media and Educational Technology Services (METS) team will offer remote training sessions that will allow for testing and troubleshooting of your remote connection using a variety of technologies used in the course. Additionally, support will be provided via email or phone from 9 am to 5 pm Boston time.
If you are in need of a new computer, as a student of Harvard University, you may purchase computers and software at attractive educational pricing rates.
The program was designed with the expectation that students would be using a current Mac or PC with a high speed Internet connection. While students may be able to access some program materials via mobile devices such as tablets or phones, Harvard Chan cannot guarantee reliability and performance due to local variances in Wi-Fi, cell network coverage, and other technical issues.
