Having a great mentor can make a world of difference, especially for young scientists. However, the passion for mentorship can be hard to maintain in a busy lab setting, where experiments with deadlines are always brewing. BPH Student Peter Wagner, on the other hand, has made it a priority in Dr. Quan Lu’s lab, where they perform global genetic screens to identify genes that determine the susceptibility of a cell to exposures of toxins, such as lead, in the environment.
