Myrtle Lefkopoulou Award with Mahlet Tadesse

The department was extremely honored to host alumna Dr. Mahlet Tadesse last Thursday as she accepted the 2016 Myrto Lefkopoulou Award and presented a lecture on “Variable selection in mixture models: Uncovering cluster structures and relevant features.”

Dr. Tadesse earned her masters and doctoral degrees from the Department in 2000, and 2002, respectively. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgetown University.

Faculty, students, and colleagues were very excited to welcome Dr. Tadesse back to the department – enjoying meetings with her throughout the day, attending the lecture, and celebrating at an evening reception.

Congratulations and thanks again to Dr. Tadesse!
