——-

Where are you from? Originally from Colombia and grew up in Miami, FL.

How long have you lived in the Boston area and how long have you worked in the Department of Biostatistics? I have lived in Boston since 2016 and started in the department just about one month ago!

What is your past work experience? I served two years through an Americorps program, City Year, at a K-8 public school in East Boston. I supported students in academics and social-emotional learning. After that I went on to manage middle and high school STEM programming at a smaller, more local youth development non-profit, where I oversaw the development of STEM + Arts + Entrepreneurship activities.

What is your official job title? Graduate Program Coordinator

How would you summarize what your job entails in one sentence? I support the academic team in the Department of Biostatistics with MS and PhD program related duties, including guidance to students, events, reports, and communications.

What do you enjoy most about your job so far? Being a part of a very supportive and flexible team! (Specially during a remote orientation process)

What are some of your goals or things you hope to contribute to the department? I hope to learn more about higher education administration and how teams transform their face-to-face relationships and responsibilities during times of crisis. I look forward to learning more about my role and what it can look like (if it continues virtually) to support students and faculty as they seek a MS or PhD degree or plan for courses.

What do you enjoy outside of work? Being outdoors, reading near sunlight, and trying new foods/exploring local restaurants!
