- PhD students, SM students, and postdocs are all welcome to join us in meeting Mariel Finucane, learning about her path, and gleaning her insights and advice! Mariel defended her dissertation ‘Bayesian Methods for Global Health Monitoring’ in 2011, with mentors Marcello Pagano and C. Paciorek. After exploring the world of statistical genetics as a postdoc, Mariel shifted focus to social policy research and joined Mathematica in 2014, where she currently is a Senior Statistician. Mathematica offers internships at both SM and PhD degree levels.
- We’ll also be joined by our own Irina Degtiar, doctoral student in the department, who recently completed an internship in the role Data Science Intern II, at Mathematica Policy Research in Mariel’s group. Many thanks to Mariel and Irina for sharing their time with our students and postdocs!
