The 2020 PQG Conference: Exploring the clinical implications for research on genetic variance

2020 PQG Conference

The Program in Quantitative Genomics recently held its 14th annual conference, “From Variants and Genes to Clinical Actions”, via Zoom on November 5-6, 2020. The conference brought together a number of speakers from industry and academia to discuss methods for identifying causal genes and pathways, moving from an understanding of these relationships to drug discovery and pharmacogenetics, and finally the role of polygenic scores for disease prevention and clinical action. Though held remotely, the conference had it’s highest number of attendees yet and generated an informative discussion regarding the clinical implications for findings from genome-wide association studies on genetic variants associated to common diseases and complex traits.
