The Harvard Graduate Womxn in Science and Engineering (HGWISE) would
like to invite applications for their Graduate Mentoring Program.
Graduate school is a pivotal time in a researcher’s career, and mentoring is among the most significant forces that shape a graduate student’s experience and their future career trajectory. The HGWISE Graduate Mentoring Program connects graduate students in science, math, and engineering who are seeking mentorship with faculty and GSAS alumni working outside of academia. The mentorship especially targets issues of gender inequality, power dynamics, and work-life balance within academia and the workforce. Individuals can be matched in a group or one-on-one mentoring relationship. Mentoring groups are encouraged to meet at least once a month to discuss topics of interest to women in science and engineering such as writing successful grant applications, achieving a work/life balance, and creating a career plan.
HGWISE is open to all female identifying, transgender, nonbinary, and other gender minority graduate students who would like to be a part of this community.
HGWISE is continuing to host the mentoring program on the online software, Chronus. Thank you to those who have previously participated as a mentor or mentee on the platform Chronus. They will honor previous matches as indicated in our end-of-year survey results. This year, for the first time, the program will utilize a feature on the platform to allow mentees to choose who they want to be mentored by from September 14-30, after which they will match any remaining mentors and mentees. If you would like to join the program, please use this link to register. Please complete your profile by September 13 so that they can match you in a timely fashion. Further details about this year’s new self-matching process and our kick-off events held in late September will be sent out through Chronus.
