Biostat Student Seminar Series

We’re excited to kick off another semester of the Biostatistics PhD/Master’s Student Seminar Series, a casual and relaxing space for Biostatistics students to share their research, internship experiences, or hard-won coding expertise; to connect with other students; and to give practice talks, all over lunch provided by the department! Please note that the seminars are open only to PhD students, Master’s students and postdocs in biostatistics.———————————————————————————————First: please join us next Thursday, February 6 from 1-2 pm in FXB G11 for our inaugural seminar for the spring semester!Title: Navigating a PhD: Transitioning to ResearchAbstract: Are you considering what kind of research you should pursue for your dissertation or debating which advisor you should work with? Or are you simply looking for new ways to stay motivated when it comes to research? The biostatistics student seminar series will kick off the semester with a student panel on making the transition from coursework to research. Seasoned fourth and fifth year PhD students in the department will discuss how they selected an advisor, what approaches worked well for them during the dissertation phase, and what they wish they had done differently. Come to listen, ask questions, and learn from others’ experiences so you can successfully navigate the dissertation phase.
