Quantitative Issues in Cancer Research Working Seminar

May 10, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

“An Introduction to Mass Cytometry (CyTOF)”

ABSTRACT: Mass cytometry, also known as CyTOF, has allowed researchers to study cancer cells and the immune system at the same time. Ions are attached to antibodies which in turn tag antigens on the cells. These ions are measured using mass spectroscopy to identify different cells within a sample and the properties of these cells. I will review the technology behind CyTOF, discuss data issues and cleaning, and talk about how to analyze data obtained from CyTOF can be analyzed to answer important questions in cancer treatment and characterization.
