Gaurab Basu, a health equity fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment (C-CHANGE), has been named one of 2021’s Grist 50—emerging leaders, or “Fixers,” who are developing fresh, real-world solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems.
A primary care doctor and co-director of Cambridge Health Alliance’s Center for Health Equity Education & Advocacy, Basu was chosen for working to educate nurses, medical students, and social workers about the connection between human and planetary health. The Grist 50 list highlights Basu’s work—which includes writing op-eds about planetary and human well-being and testifying about how to bring health into decisions about building or transportation policy—and features a video about him.
Grist is a nonprofit media organization focused on stories about climate solutions and a just future. The Grist 50 for 2021 is the organization’s sixth annual list of “Fixers,” according to a March 23, 2021 press release from Grist.
