Universal health care

“I believe every person has a right to health care. When I arrived here, I felt really good about seeing it engraved on the side of the building.”

Andrea Feigl grew up in a poor family in Austria. But they never had to worry about medical care because, she says, Austria’s universal health care system is one of the best in the world. “I would love it if every country had universal health care,” she says. Andrea fell in love with the idea of a public health career, but finances were a constant struggle. Following her first year at Harvard, she feared she wouldn’t be able to return for her second year–until she received the Paci Family Fellowship. “I’m so grateful to the donors,” Andrea says. “Their generosity allowed me to continue my studies.”
