This lecture focuses on the management of individuals who may have experienced trauma and may present signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. The intent is to raise awareness about the relationship between history of trauma and adverse childhood experiences and arrest and incarceration, in addition to potential traumatic experiences associated with an individual’s criminal behavior and later incarceration.

The lecture has the following learning objectives:

  1. Recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in your clients, yourself, and others
  2. Respond by implementing trauma informed practices
  3. Resist re-traumatization through trauma informed practices
