Derrick is a well-rounded early career scientist with over 10 years of experience in a plethora of scientific expertise ranging from in vitro/animal model studies, cross-sectional studies, case-control studies, prospective cohort studies and placebo-controlled double-blind randomized trials. His research interests center on obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease prevention. As lead author, Derrick has published his findings in top international journals including the ‘American Journal of Clinical Nutrition‘ and ‘Obesity‘. He was recently awarded the highly prestigious A*STAR International Fellowship and the 2018 Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award by the American Heart Association in recognition of his scientific achievements and tremendous future potential as a leading young scientist.
