Community Engagement

Place Matters.

Our school is located in the Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. As current and future public health researchers and practitioners, we seek to embrace our social responsibility to make health investments in and support our neighbors (residents, schools, and community-based organizations) efforts to improve the quality of life of Mission Hill residents.

Our Community Engagement Principles: PACTS

ceParticipatory – We intentionally engage, in all process phases, people who are directly impacted by the identified quality-of-life issue(s).

Asset-based – We focus on community strengths and assets.

Community-driven – We address issues identified by resident and community-based organizations (CBOs) using equitable decision-making and problem solving strategies.

Transparency – We express clearly our purpose, intent, roles, and share outcome infomation promptly and appropriately.

Social justice oriented – We embed community service within our professional and personal lives, seeking to address local health inequities and combat systemic inequities.
