Tawana Feimster

Tawana Feimster, DDS, MS is a MPH-45 student in the Health Policy Program with an interest in health care disparities and expanding equity, diversity and inclusion into organizational structures and dental school curriculums. She is originally from North Carolina. Tawana received her BS in Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a DDS dental degree from Howard University College of Dentistry and a certificate in Endodontics and a MS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Maryland. As a Board-Certified Endodontist, she has owned and provided clinical care in a specialty dental practice while maintaining a faculty position at the dental school. Her interest is in assessing how the social determinants of health impact dental school applicants and dental students. She has an organized dental mentoring group to off-set the barriers that marginalized students may face while preparing and applying for dental school. She also is a director of a non-profit organization that works to reduce the barriers for at-risk youth. Tawana enjoys traveling, experiencing new cultures, bike riding, painting and spending time with family and friends.
