Christopher H. Colecchi is the Managing Director of Broadview Ventures, the philanthropic venture investing arm of the Paris-based Leducq Family Trust. Broadview’s mission is to accelerate the development of cures for cardiovascular diseases through investments in promising early stage companies.
Chris’s responsibilities include leading a team that sources and assesses potential investments, develops the investment terms, and provides guidance to portfolio companies. Chris also coordinates the activities of Broadview’s Strategic Advisory Board, consisting of eminent cardiologists, scientists and world-class business and investment leaders.
Broadview Ventures makes investments in both the U.S. and Europe from its Boston headquarters. To date, Broadview has invested in eight cardiovascular technologies including therapeutics, devices, and diagnostics. Chris sits on the boards of directors as an observer on five of these companies.
Previously, Chris was the Vice President for Research Ventures and Licensing at Partners Healthcare–an integrated health system founded in 1994 by the Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Chris led business development, technology transfer, and commercialization activities at Partners and managed efforts to establish strategic alliances with the life sciences industries. He also created the Partners Innovation Fund–an internal venture capital fund that makes investments in early stage science from Partners hospitals to create start-up companies to improve patient care.
Earlier in his career, Chris was the Director of Clinical Trials and Industrial Relations for the Massachusetts General Hospital and Director of Clinical Monitoring for a clinical research organization (CRO) at which he oversaw the set-up and management of multi-center, industry-sponsored clinical trials at several hundred sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. Within these roles, Chris has worked directly with most of the major international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as many in the device arena.
Chris is a current Board Member of both the Harvard Clinical Research Institute and the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health. He is a member of the Investment Committee for the Partners HealthCare Innovation Fund and is a Corporator for Lowell General Hospital.
Chris was a member of the 2009 Boston Executive Leadership Institute sponsored by the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. He previously served on the Boards of Directors of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and the Starlight Children’s Foundation. He was also a member of the advisory board for the Warwick Business School studying Biomedical Innovation across the U.K. and U.S.
Chris holds a B.A. from Holy Cross College and M.P.H. from the University of Massachusetts School of Public Health.
