Dean M. Hashimoto, MD, JD

Dr. Dean Hashimoto is the Chief of Occupational and Environmental Medicine for the Partners HealthCare System and is the physician responsible for overseeing the Occupational Health Services provided to 70,000 employees who work at the MGH, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and other Partners-affiliated hospitals. He is also the chair of the state medical board that is responsible for regulating the quality of health care provided in the Massachusetts workers’ compensation system. Dr. Hashimoto is both a physician and an attorney. He is a graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, Medical School, and trained in internal medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard occupational medical residency program. He is also a graduate of the Yale Law School, served as a law clerk for the U.S. Supreme Court, and worked for several years at the Ropes & Gray law firm. He has published articles on how business organizations and regulatory structures impact the delivery of health care within workers’ compensation. His academic affiliations include appointments at Boston College Law School, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health.
