Harley Ramelson, MD, MPH is Corporate Manager in the Clinical Informatics Research and Development group at Partners. As the Product Design Manager for the Longitudinal Medical Record (LMR), Partners’ in-house developed electronic medical record, and for Patient Gateway (PG), Partners’ patient portal, he leads a team responsible for product design and usability. Dr. Ramelson has almost 20 years experience in medical informatics. He pioneered the application of IVR, interactive voice response technology, to behavioral change interventions such as smoking cessation. He has designed products in both the provider and payer markets including appropriateness protocols, case mix adjustment systems, disease management interventions, structured clinical documentation with automated E&M coding, electronic prescribing, laboratory ordering and results management, and a web-based EHR. A patent is pending for his work in designing a Payor-Based EHR which transforms administrative and disease management data into clinically useful information and views. Dr. Ramelson received a BA with a double major in Biochemistry and Chemistry in 1984 from Brandeis University, his MD from McGill University in 1988 and an MPH in 1993 with a dual concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics. His medical specialty is Internal Medicine and he received his fellowship from Boston University in General Internal Medicine.
